The Haunted Coal Mine of Steeltopia Anchorage

Since I was in the mood to explore the unknown I opened search again.

When I found the Haunted Coal Mine at Anchorage I couldnt resist the ride down the elevator into the bowels of the earth.

After stepping off the lift I slowly began to walk through the mine.

I came to a shaft that went to the right with the crossbones of death on the beams above me, but of course that didnt stop me looking... Should it have? I'm not telling. Find out for yourself.

Back at the main shaft and further into the mine I wandered. Coming to two doors and another lift. Which would I try first?  The gold doors beckoned. What confronted me was the swirling gates of hell with an orb that said Right click and choose teleport. It's safe. Trust me. How could I doubt it? So taking a deep breath, onwards I went.

A pentagram glowed with a pose in the middle. Of course I had to see what it was. Pleasure or Pain..the choice is yours, or perhaps possession or a tortured soul is more to your taste.

Taking the tp back to the mine I entered Diner's Club. Being greeted by my host I decided to try some morsels that were available. Was it a wise move? Find out for yourself.

After finally departing it was onto the lift to go down into the sub levels. There i found a lift with 5 buttons. Level 5 read - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. DO NOT PRESS!. What happened when I pressed it because you know I did. I'm not telling you! But which level is your escape. Test them all to find out.

Upon my exit I found a red door embedded in the left hand wall of the mine. Where did it go? I opened the door and clicked on the swirling image before me and before I knew it I was walking through a wormhole into another realm.

Through a flowing sea of red, into a room of floating, rotating objects I walked. I looked around as I walked trying to find an exit only to fall into a room where some poor man was being taken by a being thrusting through the wall. I needed to get out. The exit was there. Do you see it?

I didnt want to be here anymore but how do I get out? I wandered down the path and stumbled onto the mine's railway carts. Jumping into one my escape was underway... But had I chosen the right track? Which one did I take? Can you take both? You know the answer to those questions. You have to ride them yourself.

I finally found a lift take me home only to be confronted by an under construction sign. Did this mean I was stuck?

No... there was a chasm with a special walkway. Don't fall.

You have made it and for your pleasure you can even get a snapshot to say you survived the Haunted Coal Mine in Steeltopia Anchorage. If you want any souvenirs of your stay dont forget to take a peek in your shop on your way out.

Hit that red button and go through the door. And then you are... wait a minute... another tunnel?  This place doesnt want to let you go.

There is a little exploring involved to find the exit but when you do you will be transported top side into the Anchorage IronHound TrainStation.

Have a look around this fabulous sim. It is well worth the time and energy.

The Trap 2.0 - A Labryinth

Another day, another adventure.

Today as I searched I stumbled across a labryinth called The Trap 2.0. Always up for a puzzle or two I tp'd and followed the arrows to the entrance before.

This labryinth is made of four distinct areas of which you have to navigate your way through to the next.

Level 1, You come walk into a corridor with doors.
Your task go through the right door into the dark room and find the exit out the other side. (But which door you ask - That is the trick).

You made it through and now you are at Level 2.

Enter the room with the twirling lights.
Your objective get through to the other side. Hmmmm. With invisible barriers in the way it is not as easy as it seems.

Well done. Now it is time to go down to Level 3.

This is a level of ramps, but which ones you need to take is your challenge.
There are many to choose from and some will take you in circles so choose wisely.

Level 4 is your final challenge.

This is where you come face to face... with faces. Find your way through the faces, it's not as easy as it looks.
When you have finished, task completed, stumble back into the light.

Murder in Skull Creek

While looking through the showcase in search I noticed this little gem and decided to try it out… I wasn’t expecting much because usually these things aren’t as good as you would think but WOW, this thing rocks arse.

You land in Skull Creek to find out there has been a murder, and your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to act as the detective and work out  who commited this henious crime.

There are 62 things you have to do in total, the first being that you need to find the detective’s notebook. (It’s in the sherrif’s office on his desk)

There are fifty clues you have to find.  They are all listed in the notebook which you wear and are ticked off as you find them.   You have to look at EVERYTHING.  Click on EVERYTHING.   You must also “Speak” to 12 witnesses, one of which commited the crime.
At the end of this fabulous quest you get a key from the office, confront the murderer and when you work it out correctly you get a prize ticket that allows you to get lots of fabulous gifts for completing the game.

The event was interesting, hard yet intriguing.
I’ve been in SL now for 4 years and I can in all honesty say this was by far one of the most well thought out and well designed mystery quests I have found.   I thoroughly recommend it for every sister and anyone else you know who likes a little intrigue.

Oh, and to help you out just a little, you can cheat a tad and turn your beacons on and look for scripted objects for touch only.  I can tell you that even doing that it was damn hard to find everything.   Be prepared for lag.  But worth the effort.
Good lucky with the crime solving everyone.

Caroling Tinies at Metanomics

A funny thing happened at work today.

Some of you may know that I am a voice to text transcriptionist for Virtual Ability Island doing shows such as the Metanomics show.  Today was the last day of the fall session 2010 and I had the pleasure of working with my fellow transcriptionists Lorivonne and Gentle.  Today's show was 2010 & Next - Second Life, Virtual Worlds and the State of the Union with special guests Larry Johnson, CEO of New Media Consortium, Brian Kaihoi of the Mayo Clinic and my friend Terry Beaubois from Cornell University.

Prior to going on air we had a group of Carolers from the Tiny Empire and what a show they put on.  I couldnt resist but to include the text of their show.  The carols could be heard in sounds but were also in text and proved to be a great way to finish the Metanomics show before the Holiday break.

So, for your entertainment, here is the transcript of their performance.
